Default EAS issues

When I let my EAS sit overnight, it usually drops down to the bump stops and takes about 10 minutes of warming up to get it back to normal operation. This morning the front stayed normal but the rear had dropped down to the bump stops. What's wrong here? Is it the compressor?

Thats exactly what mine did. Does your info center say EAS Fault? What about the height-selector switch? Are they all flashing?

Mine said fault, and all lights were flashing with the rear end on bump stops. Took it in, and basically whats goin on is this: Your rear bags are probably cracked/leaking, causing the compressor to work overtime. This causes a thermal-switch in the compressor to burn out, effectively killing the compressor. It alos is possible your compressor jus crapped out on you, but either way, youve got an issue with the rear bags or air lines to the rear end.

Costs quoted to me were 2400 for the replacement of both rear shocks and the compressor + labor. The coil conversion kit only runs you 1700 installed. If youre vehicle-savvy you can get the kits online for like 6-700, but then you have a pretty lengthy install. $1700 was do-able for me, so I didn't mess with the labor.

Good Luck! Hopefully its just a fuse tripped or something..

Luckily, it doesn't say EAS fault, there's no flashing lights or any of that jazz. After letting the car warm up for about 10 minutes it evens out and returns to normal ride height. However, the fact that it's dropping down at all just sitting for 8-10 hours leads me to believe that there's an expensive repair in my future.

So should I replace the bags now as a preventative measure?

Definitely sounds like bags. As for replacement, that's the problem with the EAS system. You might replace the bags now, but then in a few weeks the front ones fail, or maybe a hose will rot through. You just gotta find a price on just the bags, and figure out if its worth it to you to replace the bags vs the system.

Just try and move quick, because your compressor is definitely doing more work than it wants to do.

sounds like a leak in the rear air bags, spray them down with some soap/water mix they will bubble up at the leak, also if your engine exhaust sounds loud it may be leaking onto the rear air line which feeds the rear bags, the line run across the rear cross member above the rear axle

Im in the same boat, but i knew my rear air springs were leaking(listen for the HSSSSSSing a few minutes after youpark). I had to get the system reset when the truck went into EAS Fault, so take it to a shop and have them test the rear for leaks then get them replaced before your compressor burns-out. I found a good site to get a pair for MUCH cheaper than the original bags, i just purchased a pair. http://arnottindustries.smtusa.com

Also crack your door open when warming the truck up to allow the compressor to build-up enough pressure without over-straining it. I was told this and trust me It Works! Do replace the air springs as soon as possible tho.

I have having this issue too...sitting low when left undriven in cold garage...it takes 3-10 minutes to warm up and autolevel. Is this a repair covered under RR Exclusionary warranty?
