Help! Our 1999 RR battery died, now engine disabled!
Help! Our 16-year-old son left on the headlights of our 1999 Range Rover 4.6 HSE (we purchased it used from a private party one year ago). The battery went dead. The remote would not open the doors. The ignition key would not open the door, either. We had to call a locksmith to get us in. We replaced the battery; message board still said "engine disabled". We let it sit overnight without a battery; we just put it back in and got the same message. We tried all of the tricks we read about online (i.e. key in ignition, key out of ignition, pressing "unlock" on the remote, closing the bonnet/hood, etc.). Nothing worked. We cannot use the EKA method because the ignition key will not work in the door. Is there any way to get this rig running without towing it to a Landrover dealership? Are they the only ones with the t4 diagnostics to get it running and resynchronized again? At least we know no one can steal our car while it sits there unlocked!:) Thanks in advance for any advice!
