I've had aluminum wheels repaired on several occasions and had no further problems with them. Granted the issues were not severe and my experience may differ from yours, and mine were repaired by a qualified professional. I did use them for regular off road driving in a YJ and log road duty in an F150.

Not tryin' to say you are wrong by any means. For RROJ a repaired wheel however may be just fine IIRC he doesn't offroad or does very little. Just my $.02.
