Default Leg Room: FFRR vs RRS

I was looking at the dimensions of the Range Rover versus the Range Rover Sport and discovered something surprising. The legroom is actually more in the Sport. This is true even though the Range Rover is 7.3 inches longer than the sport.

Legroom:
Range Rover: Front / Rear: 38.9 / 35.5
Range Rover Sport: Front Rear 39.1/37.6 in.

Overall Length:
Range Rover Overall Length: 195.8
Range Rover Sport Overall Length 188.5

The Range Rover Sport was designed off of the LR3 chasis, although the RR is longer the RR sports chasis was designed to carry a 3rd row and since the RR sport it doesn't have one, that extra space can be used for some extra leg room.

I'm not going to dispute statistical or written facts - but we have both, and no one wants to sit in the back seat of the Sport. The low seat
back, dipped angle of the bench, etc. make it more than uncomfortable.

I have never sat in one so I don't know. The FFRR is plenty comfortable but that is really suprising and I would have never guessed.

Remembering this thread, I grabbed a tape measure before I headed out this morning. In my 08 HSE with the seat in "my" position, there is 10" between driver's seat back and the rear bench. If I measure from the middle of the drivers seat back to the rear seatback there is 30".

I put our 06 Sport in "my" position as well. The #'s above change to 7" and 25".

So the stats might say there is more leg room in a RRS, but there clearly is not more comfortable spacing. Not sure how they come up with that.

Nice job MLS! That is really interesting and much more in line with what we would think. I have sat in the RRS and it does feel a lot more cramped. Is it possible that they have a major typo?

Don't know. But I guarantee you that you'd rather sit in the back of an HSE like yours than in a Sport. NOTHING about the Sport is bigger,
which is why she wanted one when we decided to dump her Disco. She hated the LR3, when in reality it not only feels bigger inside, but as
we all know - is the same frame.

I still say the best place to sit is in the drivers seat. The most comfortable seat in the house.

That's true in most any car. But in the Sport, it's really not that comfortable. Cramped, confining. I'm not a big guy - 6'1" - and it's
just very closed in. Like an old Jeep Cherokee - if you have to grab a phone or wallet out of your pocket, it's easier to get out of the
car and do it. She's tiny and loves it - but I prefer the full size.
