range rover p38 tune-up

What exactly is included in the tune up for $700 (that price is pretty steep)? You will most likely need new spark plugs, probably throw some additives in the oil and fuel to clean things out. Clean the throttle body with carb and choke cleaner. Probably a coolant flush (I would let an expert do the coolant flush) and transmission fluid and filter change (You can do the transmission service, but be sure NOT to get any debris in the transmission, wear gloves AND USE ATF CERTIFIED FOR DEXRON III!). You will probably need to change out the brake fluid too (I would also let an expert do this, the process is not hard, just complicated and requires two people). Differential and transfer case fluid change. Grease the u-joints on the drive line. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean the engine and undercarriage either.

Are the brakes and coolant that difficult? Is there something unusual about the process? I was planning on doing them both this weekend. I bought my latest Rover a few months ago and I am in the process of changing every fluid so that I have a record of it being done. Now it will be on my maintenance schedule.

I know the bleed process is a PAIN IN THE A$$ for the brakes. If you miss a step, or mess it up. You have to start over on a 20 step process. Its not necessarily hard, just demanding and unforgiving (at least that was my experience ). I have not tried coolant yet, so I honestly can't say. However, I have read that it is very easy to get an air bubble in the sytem by mistake. Let me know how it goes .

According to JE Robison, noted Rover authority, here is the service schedule for the GEMS engined trucks:
