Hello,

I have just discovered that the engine in my 2016 Range Rover Sport has seized.

It has been diagnosed by a Range Rover dealership, but yet to be removed from the vehicle.

The car showed no signs of issues, no warning lights before this. It was left with a detailer for some minor works & when he went to shift the car, the engine wouldn't turn over. The display showed low battery charge.

It was towed to the Range Rover dealership after an initial inspection.

I purchased the vehicle at Auction 3 years ago with 86,000 km's on it. It had been reposesed and had no service history. The car was in poor condition for such a vehicle.

Once serviced it has been a great car & I have driven for a further 80,000km's since. Teh vehicle has been serviced by a range Rover Dealer.

Any ideas on what has happened to this engine?

The options I have been provided are to replace with 2nd hand engine or a re-build

I think I’m having a similar issue. The motor froze and won’t turn and the shop is saying it might have to be replaced.

did you find any remedy?

I have about 70,000 miles on the engine and bought it clean from a dealer. Has been well serviced and maintained so it shouldn't have any issues. Showed no symptoms prior to this either.

No luck here i'm afraid.

Only just got the car back after having the complete engine rebuilt.

The only likely possibility is that Im to understand that there is a plastic guide for the timing chain that broke.

But no evidence of that either.

Hopefully my next 160,000 Km is fault free now

Damn, how much did the build end up costing? I’m considering buying a new remanufactured engine or used replacement.
