SRS light / Airbag fault

Have an '01 RR. SRS light just came on along with the "Airbag fault" warning.

I've read that there are yellow connectors underneath the driver's chair that might be loose and/or connectors behind the inside of the glove box.

Two questions -
1. Are the connectors yellow in my '01?

2. If this is the case, how would I go about finding the connectors behind the glove box?

Thanks!

I'm glad you asked this question because I am having the same problem too. I looked under my seat last night and found two white connectors but no yellow ones. How many pin connectors should they be?

Yellow plug was the solution

Simply found the yellow wire connector under the driver's seat, pushed it together (even though it already felt tight) and boom, no SRS alert...

Has anybody tried using dielectric grease to help this connection?

I could be wrong, but I don't think all Range Rovers have these yellow connectors. I have tried to find the connectors on my 1996 p-38 model but they are not there. I believe they are only there for vehicles that have the side air bags. My SRS light has been on since I bought my RR. If I have this wrong, could someone please let me know. I would love to extinguish my SRS light. And yes, Krazzz, dielectric grease works very well to improve/protect electrical connections.

My 2000 Rover's SRS connector is black. Not yellow. And it does have side airbags.

Thanks for yellow connector advice

This is Dec 09 and I saw this thread and it worked! I have a 2001 Range Rover and the passenger side under seat yellow connector was just barely closed but not completely. Now, no SRS and no Airbagfault. Thanks much

One followup note: if you have this problem, and you are pretty sure you have the right connector, it can be worth unmating and remating it, even if it seems tight. Oxidation on the contact point can be causing the problem, and the wiping action of the pull-and-reseat can clear it.

Yellow Plugs

I have a 2001 RR HSE. I had the SRS airbag fault message and continually connected the yellow plug under the driver's seat without any results. I discovered there was a yellow plug under the passenger's seat as well. After disconnecting both and reconnecting both the problem was solved. :)

Thank you all,

Disconnected and reconnected both driver and passenger yellow connectors. Also found that dealer service had left the driver side "unhitched" from its clip under the seat -- like some step-child. Thus, I suspect, every seat movement or "nudge" created the difficulties.

All srs components have yellow connectors, or yellow sleeve or yellow conduit to id it as a srs system component. I have cleaned 100's of these connectors with contact cleaner.

I have the same SRS warning light problem with my '99 Disco...along with the Anti-Lock light.

Anyone know if there's a single point of failure, as in the brake lights/PARK lock pairing...?

TIA!

Michael

Is it safe to be fiddling with these connectors with the battery connected? or do i have to disconnect it. Ive heard that disconnecting the battery can cause problems, and necessitate a trip to the dealership to reset the charging system in the computer. thoughts?

I am on my 4th Rover, Classic, D1, P38 and now LR4, never had to reset after unhooking battery.
