SRS light on
The SRS light on my 2000 discovery with 193,200 miles, came on... I sprayed WD-40 on the seat belt clasps... and the light went off..... thankfully "dash light" free....

Not to hijack thread, but I to am suffering from this issue. After hard braking to avoid running a red light at a very dangerous intersection light came on. Since then (2 weeks or so now) it has come and gone a few times but is now always on right from crank up. Haven't tried the wd40 trick yet will do tomorrow. Just curious if there might be another area I should look because it happened under braking.

Men, Now at 94,000 miles the SRS light came on after being off since last August. I will try and spray WD 40 into the seat belt buckle and see it that works, but will check any of the connections under the seat to rule out any wiring problem.

In reading further I think instead of wd40 that could gum up, silicone spray or a graphite spray may be a better solution. Any comments guys? I should get to this project by next week as this RR is not my daily commuter.

WD40 will act as a solvent, cleaning out gunk (if you spray enough). Silicone or graphite spray will coat whatever gunk is there, but may not displace it if the gunk is glued in place. I have all three on my shop shelf.

The wiring problem isn't usually a problem with the wiring, but with the contacts in the connector. disconnect and reconnect the yellow connectors, apply some dielectric grease if so inclined, but not too much. The code will need to be cleared before the light will go off.

Srs
The service light pops on at 10 years, servicing them is spendy.

replaced the hvac blend door motors? The most common reasons the srs light comes on are because of low battery voltage, someone removed the drivers or passenger airbags and turned the ignition on with the battery connected, one of the seat bolster airbags is faulty or has a poor electrical connection. (your vehicle has them) Unless you have a good scanner that does SRS, You're at the dealers mercy to read and clear them. Of the 3 areas Ive clue'd you on, I'd bet money it's one of them. Cheers |
