Default 2004 Discovery fuel pump not priming

fuel pump only works and gets voltage while cranking. truck only runs when starter fluid is sprayed in the intake. any clues on why truck is not priming before crank? Fuel pump relay and fuse works fine. Any help will be appreciated. Also, its a new pump.

maybe it is bleeding down due to a leak...or just not pumping up to proper psi?

Why would it run fine after spraying starter fluid?

The truck will start up fine if i use starter fluid in the beginning.

I have no voltage to the pump when the key is at the "on" position, not even for a second. I only get power when I crank the engine.

just a thought.....but because the starter fluid is replacing the lack of proper pressure at start up......then it catches up. is this only an issue after sitting or doesn't even start warm?

It doesn't even start warm. Why would I not be getting voltage to the pump before cranking at least 2 seconds? That's going to be my reason for not starting right up.

I see... Have you checked wiring at pump? Not a common issue but worth a look
