i have a 96 disco with only 52,300 miles runs great well maintained and the check engine light just came on what could this be and is it ok to drive for a while????thanks!!!

 

Is it a light in the right side of the dash or a 'check engine light' message? My 99 disco put a light on at 50K. The dealer took the dash off and pulled the bulb telling me it was an indicator light to have the emissions system checked.

If its the check engine light, you can take it to advance auto and they'll read the code for you which will indicate what the specific problem is.
