Disco2 problems
Hi, I'm Pete from Australia, I am not a mechanic, just a low wage earner, so trying to fix my disco myself, youtube has been very good so far. ok what is happening is first start up in the mornings I can put it in to R or D and press the excelerator all the way to the floor, nothing happens, motor just idles, drop into N or P and rev a bit and drop into gear and off I go. when I get up to around 2500 revs it starts coughing, or bunny jumping, missing, or something, now what I have tried so far...
I have replaced the Fuel Filter.
I have replaced the Fuel pump, due to running out of diesal at 1/4 tank, plus pump was noisy.
I have checked and freed up a sticky waste gate.
there is no fuel leaking from the Fuel regulator.
I have checked for oil in the harness, clean as a wistle.
I hope someone can point out a few more things for me to look at, thanks in advance..

Fluid level is right, with my model I can only undo the front plug and check using my finger.. serviced was a while back now, being low on cash a service is costly, but if you think that could be the problem... I have just tested the MAF and all that is working good, with correct voltages..
cheers..
cheers..
The D2 transmission fluid level is supposed to be above the fill hole, so if it doesn't pour out when you check it then it's too low. Follow the directions in the RAVE.
You're supposed to fill it to the hole, then start the engine, run it through all the gears slowly, then back into neutral and with the engine still running you need to fill it up more and cap it before you shut it off.

Just wanted to add proper fluid level is checked when trans oil cool whether during a trans service refill or just for a routine level check. IOW don't drive down the road to get a six pack and then check for the drip. If doing a routine level check the engine must still be running and gears gone through because after a time of not running fluid drains back into the pan from the torque converter.
9. Fill gearbox with recommended oil to bottom of
oil level/filler plug hole.
+ CAPACITIES, FLUIDS,
LUBRICANTS AND SEALANTS,
Lubrication.
10. Select 'P' (Park).
11. Ensure handbrake is applied.
12. Start engine and allow it to idle.
13. Apply footbrake.14. Move selector lever through all gear positions,
while continuing to fill the gearbox. Select 'P'
(Park).
15. With engine idling, continue filling gearbox until
a 2 mm bead of oil runs from oil filler/level plug
hole.
16. Fit new sealing washer to automatic gearbox
filler/level plug, fit plug and tighten to 30 Nm (22
lbf.ft).
17. Stop engine.
18. Remove all traces of oil from gearbox casing.

Thank you, the kit has arrived, need to go get some oil and I will do the service, but I have also had some luck, I bypassed the wastegate modulator, as seen in a few youtube videos, the bunny jumping has stopped and is running very well, I also undid the plug from the trans, and Browny foam started coming out very fast, so I waited until it slowed down and replaced the plug, still has the accelerator problems, hopeing the trans service will fix that one.. need to wait for pay day to get the oil..
Browny foam started coming out very fast,
Because the fluid sounds questionable you may want to change filter and service. After a short period of time (few hundred miles?) you can then just drain and service again with another 5-6 quarts. Doing this dilutes the amount of old funky fluid remaining.
Our tranny holds about 12 quarts but when being drained, only 5 to 5.5 quarts will drain out, the rest stays in the torque converter and upper body area.
Update... I removed the 6 bolts with no problem, I noticed one of the bolts holding the filter on had a damaged head, I tried everything I could to get the bolt out, damn thing didn't want to budge. so put it all back together filled it up with new oil as per earlier recommendations here, and it is going to a mechanic that has the tools to remove the damaged bolt and replace it, at least dropping the oil will get rid of some more old oil. I am really hoping this will fix the no acceleration when cold problem..
I will keep you informed...
Thanks again for all your help guys..

Update, Trans service done, still same problem...
First start you can put it into D and press the accelerator straight to the floor with nothing happening.... Back to N, rev a bit and drop to D all good for then on...
What do you suggest is my next step?
thanks again...
