Electric Fan

Electric Fan
It seems my electric fan likes to be on. And it doesn't seem to matter what the temp. is outside either. Is this common or has a sensor/switch gone bad? Also, when I put this baby in reverse in the morning, it shifts pretty hard. Common? Thanks for your help. This is a great forum.

I have a disco Series II TD5 and it has this problem too. assuming you mean the fan that goes on when for example it is really hot, the one in the front of the radiator? It is not a relay I replaced it plus the airco works perfectly fine, when I remove the relay all together it stops working as it should. My original dealer said the problem could be in the dashboard some of the electronic switches expensive to replace....

Fan
Yes I agree. I read somewhere that the ECU needs to be reset and that it could have been caused by an overheating event... This could have been the cause in my case as I have a overheating problem potentially caused by a faulty expansion tank. I have ordered a new one now. Can the resetting be done without going to a LR dealer? Deconnecting and reconnecting the battery perhaps?
thanks

I was wrong, british parts do sell some sensors. Mike
Are these just sensors that if the temp goes below or above a maximum temperature the fan goes on ? or is it a more sophisticated thermostate type of device? A thermostate has been replaced last year by my local garage here, the one that is part of the cooling system.
Thanks
Thanks again
