Would there be better than stock options for gasket replacements? In this case I'm going to be changing a transfer case but being able to replace them all with better/stronger parts would be nice in the long term.

Any other hints would be helpful. I'll be going this myself in the driveway, probably on a tilter

 

Oh, anyone used a vehicle tilter on a Land Rover?

 

A Rover is too top heavy for a tilter.
As for the gaskets, as far as I know there are no other gaskets made for your t/case.
