Welcome Jack! Don't do that again. British vehicles don't like water. You most likely got water in the ECU connection. Let it sit overnight and it should be good to go.

[IMG][size=2]Unfortunately this morning there is nothing going on with the engine no clicking, no lights, no horn, zero response to turning the key.. I even try a jump from my other vehicle with no response. When a car is running and has problems I'm able to work on it, but on the electrical side I'm pretty clueless. Anyone have some recommendations on where to start troubleshooting? I need layman terms too. I've ridden and worked on BMW motorcycles most my life this is a new chapter for me. Thanks

The place to start is back by the washer jug.
The ECU/ECM is mounted under the plastic on the side of the washer jug.
After you get everything out of the way you need to start to take apart the
electric connections and look for moisture.
Get some dielectric grease this will stop the water next time.
Most times they just run bad for a few days but with it not running at all
I thing you have hosed down the ECM.
Good Luck

One other thing check the relay box by the battery.
You may have poped the main one.

Let me share my case... it might help you. I was not washing the engine bay but... read on!

My DI was all ok until one day my top radiator hose decided to break. You could imagine the water mess all over the the enginee bay. I came to a park and got a taxi to my nearest auto parts store. Once I replaced the hose right at the parking lot, the truck will not start... it clicked but it did not start. I tried several things for over an hour until the "click" stopped. Nothing helped... not even jumping the truk did work!! I pulled the truk to my house and... to make a long story short, the problem was the selenoid on the starter. Its housing was all burned and craked from the engine's heat-who know for how long. When the excess water got to it, a short was produced killing the selenoid.

In comparisson with my case, I could think that your selenoid was shot and the water on it created a bridge inside the starter/selenoid killing the battery and not allowing you to be able to jump the truk.

I am not a mechanic and perhaps is something simpler or something very bad like a burned DME module but it is worth to try looking in to your starter.

First, make sure your battery is a good one!!
Second, get under the truck and disconnect the wires from the starter. Jump the truck and try and see what happens. Obviously you can not start the truck but if all electronics come to life, then you can be for sure that you have a short on the starter/selenoid... cheap and easy repair.

Good luck

Okay, So I ordered the ECU. I wasn't sure, but could someone tell me the best way to test to see if I burned up my selenoid? That wouldn't cause everything electrical to shutdown though. Here's a weird thing I was going to move my Disco up the driveway, but can't get it out of park?? Is that normal? Are there any other electricals I could of damaged to cause everything in the vehicle dead? the thing is like a big rock in the driveway now. I hadn't even owned it a week. I'll never wash the engine again I'll tell you that. I picked up an ECU for $71 off of Ebay that was a good deal. Are there any Relays under the hood that I might of messed up? Is there a goo way of checking wheter or not a relay is any good?? Thanks all for the 411, Jack

What have you checked so far?
Did you find water in any of the electrical plugs?
Have you pulled the starter off and had it checked?
The selenoid that BMWLR is talking about is on the starter
so if you have it checked say at Auto Zone for free they can tell you
if its still good.
The ECU for $ 71 is a great price but you will have to have it coded for your LR,
and there a good possibility that the one you have is still good.

IT WON'T SHIFT FROM PARK WITH A DEAD BATTERY. SHIFT INTERLOCK IS 12V.

HAVE YOU CHECKED BATTERY VOLTAGE?

STARTER SENARIO IS POSS. MAYBE BLOWN MAIN FUSE IN UNDERHOOD BOX?

Okay, First off I've only owned this Vehicle a week. After it was all said and done
I was checking the grounds, and it turned out to be a loose conection coming off the negative battery terminal. Its sort of bitter sweet
It the least expensive thing that could of happened, but it kind of ticks me it was something so simple. I bought the ECU through Carolina Motors which has a good
return policy even on electronics. A lesson to be learned is to start with the simple stuff... Thanks for the advice Discovery 96
