Default newb question: what to get?

I dont yet have a land rover, however i was curious what i should be looking for. so far, i like the '99-'02 discovery II SE7's, what should i be looking out for? most all of them are around 100K miles and appear to be in ok condition. is there anything that these are known for to go bad around this time that needs to be replaced? any info is welcome, thanks.
Andrew

I just had to ask myself this question (since I bought one yesterday :-), and my target was the 00-02 D2s. I didn't want a series I, for the (even-worse) reliability problems, I didn't want the *first* year of the D2 (cause it was brand new), and I didn't want anything newer than 02 cause projector headlights give me hives. I got an '00, from a small A/R lot 20 miles north of me off Craigslist. We'll see how it goes.

He had an 01 SE7 and an 02 SD, but both had hit things, and I don't especially want the sunroof anyway, cause I plan on a full length rack.

You might want to evaluate the seats carefully; I'm not sure the seats on the '01 I test drove a couple months ago weren't slightly more comfortable than the ones on this '00. I have no idea whether they actually changed them or not.

There may not be. But it was the first year of a new model, and such things are often good to avoid. Thanks for the link.

It would be easier to give advice if you say what type use you have planned for it.
A lot of off-roading, no off-roading, mostly road use, all road use, towing, no towing etc.
How much of a factor are repair expenses? Do you plan to do all the repairs yourself, none? Some?
