Default Parking Brake Issues

New Member and New 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 owner.

My parking break wire is stretched out not allowing use of the brake. Is there a quick fix or do I have to get into the emergency brake drum and go from there. My buddy is a shade tree mechanic and he thinks it is the pads. I don't know as much as he does but I do not think it is the pads. This truck was parked for a few months with the parking brake on and I think the cable is stretched and needs replacing. I will appreciate any and all suggestions. I have to replace the drive shaft coupling so if I have to get into it, I might as well and stay under and get both done at the same tine.

I had the same issue and I just bought a new parking brake cable and it was fixed.
