Default Question for Disco Mike???

Mike,
I recently posted about a front end whine at hwy speeds (Disco II), you said replace the front drive U-joints. I got the rebuild kit from Great Basin Rvrs, but when talking to my mechanic, he believes the whine would be from bearings or something similar, vice the U-joints.... Says the U-joints would cause a vibration, rattle, but not a whine.

Can you offer any suggestions? I'm having the rebuild done to preclude disaster, but wondering if I'm also in the market for new front wheel bearings or some such thing.

2000 Disco, 56K on the clock.

I appreciate your assistance,
