Have a 96 Discovery. Took out sony radio that someone had installed. Purchased radio off ebay with no code. Called land rover for code with vin number off my vehicle. They gave me the code and when I punched it in just beeped at end. Does anyone have any idea what to do next.

 

Why would you buy a radio with no code??

And besides, if the radio isn't the original from YOUR truck, VIN lookup isn't going to do you any good, the code is dependent on the radio's serial number.

Next step: tell your wife (or girlfriend) you made a bad purchase decision, then go buy a radio with the code.

The code that they gave you is based off your car, seeing how the radio did not come from your car, the code is not correct.

The dealership can get you the code based off of the serial number of the radio, but may not do it over the phone, and may want to charge, as it is somewhat time consuming, involves emailing Land Rover, and then it being forwarded to the manufacturer, and a few other steps...

If you remove the radio, and post the serial number (depending on what manufacturer its a 8-12 digit code) I may be able to help, but no promises.

 

It might be easier to just get another aftermarket radio. The Sony was probably better anyway.
