Default Seafoamed Motor, now Service Engine Soon Light Comes on?

Hey everyone, I seafoamed my Discovery II following the instructions I found on this website. Seafoam Induction Procedure - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.. The motor seems to have better acceleration and it runs smoothly, however my Service Engine Soon light came on. Is this typical? Will it go away eventually? I may take it in to check to see if its throwing any codes. I just wanted to see if anyone else has similar experiences.

Thanks!

Yes. while your engine was choking on the Seafoam it did not run as normal. Probably some P0301, P0302, etc. codes for mis-fires on any or all 8 of your cylinders, and probably codes for the O2 sensors that probably saw some wild readings during the cleaning process and kicked some trouble codes due to the exhaust during that time of "great smoke"!!

Have the codes cleared and go forth!

Thank you gentlemen for your input. On the day I went to try to get the codes cleared, the SES light went off. The truck's been driving good as new! I cleaned the engine bay yesterday. It gets a full detail tomorrow!

Haha, discounts for fellow memebers . Roanoke isn't too far away. 3 hrs or so. I used to go to Radford back in the day.

Do not detail your engine. Most of the sprays that they use, may look it look good but can effect the electrical connections.
Just get in the habit of power scrubbing your engine once in awhile and it will look good.

I sprayed down the engine with some engine degreaser. I made sure to cover up all electrical wires and the alternator. It was due for a cleaning. No problems so far.

Try not to use degreasers unless you have a real heavy build up of grease. The cold power rinse at the local car wash with pretty much remove all the normal oil mess.

Sounds good. I'll definitely keep that in mind in the future. Thanks!
