Default Trucks on fire???? NOT!!!

Today my wife came home and said the LR is on fire again... Second time she has said this and I still find no trace of flames, smoke or scorched anything. She had a co-worker look and he said there is some electrical tape that has some wires taped to the heating element and that is what is smoking....

I looked and saw ... nothing.. Heating element?? ...

Today I made her show me what is burning and she pointed to the heat shield covering the fuel lines, and the wires from the disconnected inertia switch that are taped to the AC line...

I can only assume that the 'smoke' she is seeing is water vapor or steam off the catalytic converter as it is a bit slushy out and water/snow could be getting thrown up there (missing mud flaps)

anyhow, it was nice to see my truck before the son's girlfriend jumped in it and drove off... I will probably have to cruise the local watering holes to see where she leaves it this time. Gotta put a long string on it so I can find it easier...

I have to admit we have had 2 cars catch on fire in the past few years, first was my 2008 smart. 6 months old and the electrical shorted out while we were driving down the road... 2nd was my son's 2004 Gran Prix GT... it just started burning out in the street. nobody was even near it. it was sitting for about 10 hours before it started smoking. Total loss on both. SmartUSA did send me a brand new 2009 and took my burnt car to Germany to see what happened. I have been told it is in a warehouse at Mercedes...

We take smoking cars pretty seriously around here..

I have two Halon fire extinguishers in my truck. One 2.5lb by the drivers seat. One 5lb mounted in a quick release bracket in the back. I have seen too many Car-bq's.
