what type of coolant?
i hav a 04 D2 i wanna know what type of coolant should i use. ive read some other posts but cant get a right answer.... some people say use dexcool...some people say i dont recommand it. i hav a pic of my trucks coolant below. my owner's manual recommands to use castrol antifreeze SF or texaco XLC, one part antifreeze to one part water.
no to dexcool. it sludges/clogs up your system. buzz, being the "all knowing" on the subject, will surely chime in. but for me distilled h2o and prestone 50/50 and water wetter. the water wetter did not show me a difference. some will say otherwise

how in the hell do u get 30 mpg on ur truck lmao
times .5 or times 1/2, so 15 mpg
Most guys around here run the old green stuff as the Dexcool can be a mess if it gets any air in the system from what I have heard, and that can happen pretty easy. It clogs up things, turns to jell and crystallizes and all kinds of good things. Google up Dexcool and see what you find. My D2 had already been converted to green when I bought it.
Recently I replaced the coolant on my '03 minivan which has hybrid OAT which is Zerex G-05 that I had never heard of (Dexcool being OAT "Organic Acid Type"). The hybrid is suppose to give you what Dexcool does without the problems. The idea behind both was to work better with aluminum parts in engines. Others may have a better description, but that is the general idea. Some guys still stay with the Dexcool, but not many around the forums, but there are some. I have heard a couple people running the HOAT (hybrid) and it seems to do well, but I have not heard a lot of people using it, but it would seem to make sense to replace the Dexcool, in my understanding.
In doing some reading, it looks like new cars are now moving to newer formulas to get longer run times before coolant change is required.

i get roughly, 1/2 of 30mpg..... 15.6.. it just looks better before I divide i.e. x.5. or at least, it makes me feel better. so i guess i should change sig. to 31.2........x.5
I will get on that.

my prestone is the old green stuff. basically any off the shelf green antifreeze. just steer away from the dexcool, I have first hand seen some really clogged dexcool radiators and some photos on this forum, show the same.
So im guessin i hav dexcool cuz i hav orange coolant ..... So u got any flushing tips? Lol
