Door handle double-pull

That's not a feature. It's a bug. If you have a vehicle that can be double-locked, it will prevent you from opening the door with the exterior or interior handles. But if you are inside and the vehicle is double-locked, you won't be able to open the door from the inside unless you unlock it with the fob (button, or insert and operate the unlock button on the dash). The vehicles sold in the US do not have the double-lock feature.

It's not a bug or fault. It's a feature.
The Volvo S80 manual describes how to change from a double-pull to a single-pull of the door handle by turning off the Auto-Lock feature in settings accessed through the radio Menu. But my LR2 Menu does not show that option in my Menu settings. Probably would need a bi-directional scanner that is specific to Land Rover to change this.

@LR2driver what year is your LR2? JLR SDD/Gap tool, etc. can certainly be used to change this feature if it is an actual software feature (maybe it can be changed with the remote?). This is not a "feature" on my LR2 or it would really annoy the heck out of me! If it's not a mechanical issue there must be a way to change it. Try searching or posting at Freel2.com as there are many users from multiple countries that frequent there. Then there are the Russian forums that can be a gold mine of interesting solutions and fixes for the FL2/LR2...........thankfully there is Google Translate!

2008 LR2 HSE
I have searched the forums, it's a known issue (see links below). It appears to be some carryover from Volvo as a safety feature (you know Volvo is the king of safety, they will keep you safe even if it annoys you). There is probably some secret combination of button presses and finger snapping that changes the setting.
When I asked my LR dealer, he didn't know. He said whenever they can't figure something out, they chalk it up to that "Land Rover charm".

Humm, I have a 2008 LR2 SE. The platforms are mostly the same and I don't have this double pull thingy happening. I suspect that somewhere in JLR SDD there is a safety option that has been activated to cause this. You must be able to turn it off. When you approach the locked LR2 from outside, if you press the unlock button on the remote once, does it just unlock the driver door only?
