Default 1500 Mile Road Trip. Would you do it?

Hey Folks,

So, we are planning on driving from Virginia to Boston between Christmas and New Years. My truck has 115k and is running strong. With this being said, would you attempt the road trip? I can throw everyone in my 2018 A6, but it has much less room.

I don't think my 100 mile AAA tow will do much if it breaks down in Mass.

Thoughts?

I'd go over a few things to make sure it's road-worthy for that length of trip; but outside of that, absolutely!

150k here

I have, and would again (minus the screaming infant part)

Just get current on maintenance, and carry the typical spares

If it's all working good and your maintenance is up to date it shouldn't be an issue. Last February we took my 175K LR3 on a trip to Nawlins from NoMi without a hitch, we even saw 24mpg on the Natchez Trace.

I have put twice that on a single trip without worry. I brought tools and spare fluids but only because I would be in areas with no cell or human contact. But really a 1,500 mile trip is not much. Round trip to Chicago for me is a little under 500 miles. So this would be like 2.5 round trips there, something I would not hesitate to do.

I'll be doing Rovers on the Rocks Veterans Day weekend and it is 1400 miles round-trip. I'll be hitting the trails to while I'm out there. Done Winter Romp a couple times and that is 2500 miles round-trip

Heck I'd take my 97 XD on a 1500 mile trip no problem! LR3 will handle it like it's just a quick trip into town. Just check your fluids, and PSI in the tires before you leave and have a safe trip!

I can't account for a state that your rig is in, but if you looked it over properly and did preventive maintainance, I would not hesitate at all. LOL, I would not call a 1500 miles drive a road trip per se as this would me my regular escape to Maine for the weekend and back, but yeah,, check your fluids and go.I did 8000 miles road trip in May, traveling from NJ to West Coast through Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Colorado offloading at the same time extensively in Utah and my 2005 LR3 had 250 000 miles when we started that adventure.Cheers!

Thanks for the input everyone. I will back it up to the 60k service and make sure everything is done before I go.
