Default 60 miles from 300K, how should I reward the truck?

I'll post a pic when I top it tomorrow, I just replaced the center support for the drive shaft last week so I'm thinking a new set of tires or a new rear diff, as the diff is original to the truck and has began to leak recently. My control arm bushings are gone so that's obligatory. Everything important works brilliantly, and everything not important as well, except the CD player. V6, original fuel injectors and just about everything else. It's always been used for work, mainly highway miles and off road if you consider muddy driveways to houses under construction off road. I suppose everybody was in a good mood the day they made my truck.

Cheers gents, can't wait to post the pic.

Yours must have been built when an executive from corporate was visiting the plant.

I'm split on running her til she dies or buying a late model LR4 and keeping her as a hobby truck.

Definitely deserves something for all those good miles, this truck will never end up in the scrapyard.

Ident,

Good to see another high mileage LR3 running around. I have an 05' with almost 220k on the clock. Yours and mine might have been neighbors on the assembly line

Being hopefully a future owner of an LR3, this is great to see! I’ve personally decided an LR4 is not worth the risk due to the tendency of catastrophic engine failure.

Keep us updated on the 220, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like to know what keeps these trucks running past 200k

I decided against an LR4 for the same reason. I am looking for another LR3 but they're actually quite rare. I'd prefer another V6 but they're beyond rare.

4.4 L V8 here. The failures of the 5.0 L are all because of timing chain issues correct? Kinda silly that it along with the guides and other bits need to be changed just like a belt, but if you stay on top of that would you theoretically be good to go?

That's what I've seen from reading a bit, but I've also seen glowing reviews, nothing over 100k though. There are also the horror stories of the entire engine being replaced before hitting 10,000 miles. The consensus between everything I've read is that you could call that engine a work in progress, at least from the fairly dated posts I've seen.

So, maybe not something you would necessarily prevent by regular maintenance, but depending on your luck you might be fine. I'd rather go with what I know personally.

Good point. How do you like your Evoque from your sig? My mom has a few year old disco sport that has been great so far. As far as small SUV's go it is definitely on my short list, but I don't believe I could ever love it like my LR3. As far as rewarding your truck I typically use a good wash, wax, and interior cleaning to treat mine haha. Its good for it and it doesn't hurt the wallet if you have all the supplies anyway.
