Coolant will get past the rings and foul the plugs so a full drain and flush just might get it going again, the coolant should evaporate once up to running temp but dilution would have already happened.

From my understanding engine lubrication is a closed system so even if it got to evap temp it wouldn't necessarily go anywhere if everything is sealed properly, and even if it is, if it began to escape so would the oil.

Yeah but a gallon of coolant isn't what that's meant for... I think we all know what a dipstick looks like when a head gasket is blown, coolant doesn't evaporate and exit through the PCV or breather valve.

I can't find a source but coolant clearly bonds with oil in some inseparable way otherwise coolant in the engine would exit right? I mean I'm no expert that's just my experience,

Coolant will turn to steam and get past the rings and out the exhaust.

My point what to what you wrote here. The system is far from sealed/closed.

An engine is a closed system. From what I can gather an engine is classified as a closed system technically but its subsystems are not.

Oh? Perhaps you should define what the difference is in an open system relative to a closed system.

Yes, I realize an engine isn't a closed system in that nothing ever gets in or out ever, in that case we wouldn't be able to change the oil. It is a closed system in the mechanical sense such that no oil is allowed to burn or escape.
