I recently purchased my first Land Rover, a 2006 LR3 HSE and need to get some tires. I've read many of the posts on this site and most people recommend changing to 18" wheels to improve selection. However, since I'm able to get the Cooper Zeon LTZ in 19" from Tire Crawler I'm thinking this would be a good option. Link to tires Cooper Zeon LTZ Tires C01410 255/55R19 111H BLK 520 A B
I mainly drive in the city but want to use the LR3 off road about once a month or so. I will Also be driving from California to Canada this winter and will do some off roading in the snow but since this will not be a regular occurrence I don't specifically want snow tires.
So, my question is should I go with the 19" Zeons or are there any better recommendations without going to 18"?
I just saw,a recent post about the Zeons cracking, which I was surprised to see giving all the other posts that recommend these tires. Has anyone else had any problems with these tires?
Thank you

That is the most aggressive choice in a 19" size. You may be able to find a set of Goodyear MTRs but it will be old stock. I am not sure I would want to live day to day with the Coopers. The best solution would be a nice all season on the 19's (The new Pirelli Verde or something) and then source a set of 18" wheels with some more aggressive rubber.

Do be aware that a more aggressive AT tire will not necessarily be better in the snow. At least on road snow/ice conditions (offroad loose snow/mud may be another story). I have had many AT tires that suck in winter conditions.
FWIW I am currently running Toyo Open Country G02 winter tires and they are absolutely amazing in the snow/ice. For next year I will be putting on some Bridgestone Dueller Alenzas on the summer wheels.
