Default Cracked Dash

I have reviewed most of the threads on this issue. I am still amazed that they can't make a dash that won't crack! Anyway, has anyone had any luck with Land Rover NA taking responsibility for the cracks and offering a fix? Has anyone found a repair, other than replacing the entire dash? (super glue, vinyl filler, Qbond) As a last resort, has anyone used the carid suede dash mat? I am almost embarrassed to even mention getting a dash mat. The cracks in our dash aren't very visible, but now that I know that they are there, I would like to fix them. Phil

Tons of people have the problem. My friend in the Rover business in SA says he's never seen it. Evidently it's crappy manufacturing for the US market as usual. There are a few threads around on the LR forums regarding this phenomenon.

I don't see Land Rover doing anything they are not forced to do. You probably don't want to put a dash cover on, because there are air bags in the dash.

I kind of suspect the only real fix would be replacing the dash top..

I contacted LRNA and they hooked me up with a new dash. I'm on the hook for the labor to install it (approx. $980 part). But, and it's sort of a big one, they have been placed on back order (I guess because so many are needed) and I won't see the replacement dash for awhile. But at least Land Rover is standing behind their product.

that is interesting. I will give LRNA a call and see what they are willing to do. I have noticed that there are quite a few LR3s with dash issue. Phil

Subscribing. Again this morning as I was allowing the engine to warm before starting off, I sat in disgust looking at all the cracks I have running across my dash and the width of the cracks when it is 30 or so degrees out. Unbelievable...particularly for a dash that has been so well "maintained"...and with the use of a windshield shade.

I've considered adding one of those suede covers, but thus far, just haven't done it. By far the weakest and most embarrassing part of my LR3.

A few questions:

1. For those who LRNA is taking care of, are you still under warranty?
2. Did you guys use any kind of product on it like Vinylex or similar?
3. Any way to fit an LR4 dash cover instead?

Wow. I thought people were just talking about the airbag cover.
