Default Floor Jack recommendations LR3

My apologies if this already covered but I couldn’t find my answer by searching. Does anyone have recommendations for a floor jack for my LR3 with 265/60 18’s and the stock air suspension? I’d like mainly to be able to easily change tires and am unsure in particular if 18” is enough travel or if I need more. Thanks.

I have a 2 ton with 18.5" max lift - Never needed more

For tire changes, I lift from under each control arm - less fighting w/ wheel droop

I have a 3 ton from Harbor Freight that I got to work on a Volvo I used to have a couple years ago. If my driveway wasn't so steep I could probably get one whole side off the ground. It does go high enough to get either the front or rear tires off the ground at the same time.

You said floor jack. I have the (orange) Daytona 3 ton model from Harbor Freight. When placed on the frame right in the middle between front and rear wheels, it can lift both of them off the ground no problem . It extends high enough to use the tall 4 ton jack stands at the second or third setting. I would guess at least 18-20 inches high.

For scheduled brake service or suspension work when all four wheel need to be off the ground, I use the 7,000lb Automotive Quickjack. It lifts the whole car a true 24 inches and has always seemed very stable when fully raised.

For fluid changes, I use 4 of those plastic ramps. It gets all wheels raised and makes the car level for checking fluid levels in the transfer case and diffs more accurate.

When working on the interior, I usually wind up lowering the car so it is easier to get in and out.

Hope this helps.

Jeff
