Exclamation Fuel smell in my land rover disco 3

Hi guys,

I have a land rover discovery 3 2006 model, from time to time I often get a fuel smell inside the car
specially when I park, i checked it several times, they kept saying that vapor canister is damaged and
they cleaned it by air, and gave a full bag saying it's dust. what I feel is that first of all it's not dust, and it shouldn't be removed.
what do you think? shall Look to another stuff like fuel injectors for example.

another issue um having is my rpm goes down if I immediately turn on the vehicle,
like um driving for half an hour and switch off the car and on again immediately the rpm goes really down.
if I turn on the ignition for like 4 sec and switch on the vehicle, everything is normal, it was fine until i told to change the coolant pipe that runs underneath
air intake and took the throttle out. what shall do?
is it fuel issue or Air?

thanks

Last few LR3's I worked on with fuel smells had cracked fuel filter housings. Also the o ring oń the tank likes to leak. Hop under the truck and see if the top of the gas tank is wet. You'll see the lines feeding in about 2/3rds the back back. Fuel pump is in the tank and the fuel filter is separate. Supposed to change is every 150k.

Its behind the transmission cross member. Like 6 bolts to remove that. Then a small heat shield. Not all of the LR3's are equipped with it, but you can see it without removing everything. Passenger side right above the cross member. If there is just a big void, you don't have one. If you see a bunch of heat shielding, boom you do. Little spin on guy.

Then the actual fuel pump gasket, which is on top of your gas tank. That's a bugger to get at. If leaking, you'll see fuel seepage on the side of the tank. You'll have to peel back the heat shield that is protecting the fuel tank and driveshaft from the exhaust. A few 10mm nuts hold that up.
