How much above market?
How much above market would you all be willing to pay for a very clean, well maintained (w/records), LR3 from a reputable used car dealer specializing in land rovers? I'm sure there is some value in getting a rover that isn't going to have major problems in the first couple years of ownership.

It depends a lot where you are and what the market is like. Up here near Boston, there's a dealer who specializes in Land Rovers and all he picks up are clean and all get fully inspected. His LR3's usually are listed at around $20k. That's about normal for a LR3 in that condition with all records up here. You can find rougher examples with no records for closer to $10k.

10% maybe
I can't see much of a premium for a good visual condition 3 with all records vs just a good looking 3. The odds are the 3 with the records would sell quicker however.
There is not alot of incentive to keep any vehicle in good repair other than owner pride. 3's on a dealer lot list at more than on a sand lot and all were purchased at the Ford lease auction so who knows. |

Its funny I got a post card last week from the land rover dealer offering me $3370 for my lr3 trade in on a new rover , I'm sure I can't go to their lot and buy an lr3 for that price

Who is the specialist LR dealer? Do they do service work too or just sales?

I bought a 2006 a little over a month ago. It has just under 100k miles.
The plan was to fix up for my cousin, but she has decided on another route. I am going to list the vehicle for 15k. It's a Tonga green SE with Alpaca interior, cold weather package, and HID lights. Brakes were done by PO. Repairs and preventative maintenance done: - New battery - New Radiator - New T stat housing - New water pump - 4 new cooling hoses(major ones) - Brass t - New updated diff breather - New upper and Lower control arms - New inner and outer tie rods - New Arnott front air struts - New Eurospare rear air struts - New terrain response control panel - New engine PCM(was getting comm faults) - New used driver seat(old one had a tear) - Removed all seats and vacuumed carpet - Royal Purple in Diffs and t case - BG oil with KN filter - Trans service with BMW metal pan and Redline D4 Still need to change out a worn passenger front half shaft CV, a complete detail(buff paint, shampoo carpet, condition leather), and replace all exterior logos with gloss black logos. I believe 15k is the top of the market where I am at, but I am confident I will get it as NOBODY does all the work I did then sells their vehicle. |
