iPhone 3GS Bluetooth doesn't stick
I have a 2006 LR3. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 3GS. The bluetooth with this new device will NOT remember my LR3. Every time I get in I have to re-connect and re-enter the code (twice for some reason) before it works. Once connected it works just fine but turn the car off and it's forgotten. I previously had the first gen iPhone and it never had this issue. Google and forum searches have not been helpful which I assume is because the newer model has only been out for a month or so. Very frustrating. I know this is probably an Apple issue but just curious if anyone else with the same specs is having the same problem.
Thanks. |
Check your Settings> General> About and scroll down and see if you have a Bluetooth address or if you have Land Rover in your Bluetooth devices. If you don't have an address there is a fix on the Apple site.
I think you are right in that it is more an Apple issue vs. LR. The 3.0 update created a small number of connection issues with BT and WiFi. |
it is. apples new software works different then the older version. rover will be comming out with an update that will allow apples new software to be functional before too long

Thanks for your time. |
could be either... updating it is possible, but sometimes the modules will not take an upload, even if they physically function fine.

Very good. I will wait for Apple's next major iPhone Bluetooth software update (from what I'm told, v3.1 is due in the next month or so, and it has some Bluetooth updates). If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll attempt to keep up with the efforts of LR.
Can you suggest a good way to stay on top of Bluetooth-related technical updates from Land Rover? Is there a place online where these things are typically announced? Thanks for your time in responding to these Bluetooth threads. |
v3.1 or v3.0.1 (which is available)?
|
there is a compatability center on landroverusa.com in the owners section... its based off of vin, however, i have found it to be a little off at times, as it doesnt know if you have the latest software in your car. also even though it seems to seperate from car to car, it doesnt with some phones. ones that are compatible with say an lr2 but not an lr3 sometimes show up as being good with both. this wont let you know when a new update is out, hell, they dont even tell us its when its comming, just that its there... also, there are many phones not on any of the lists that work perfectly... i personally have a motorola that isnt mentioned anywhere, but its fully functional with all the systems in all the cars.

I've also been contributing to a thread on a UK version of this forum: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic36362-30.html From one poster's experience, the difference between his success, and the pairing glitches I'm experiencing, likely is the Bluetooth firmware upgrade he received about a year ago. Others have also indicated trouble-free iPhone 3GS operation with the 2009 LR3 HSE Bluetooth. Would a Land Rover service manager be able to identify the existence of a Bluetooth module firmware upgrade? Earlier this week I was quoted over $1200 to replace my existing (99% trouble-free) Bluetooth module. I'm hoping that was just a dealer trying to make some extra money, and not the only solution to this problem. As I call around to other local LR dealers, I'd like to get off on the best foot. Thanks for your time. |
