Default Lr3 gas gauge?

New here. 05 lr3. About 6 months driving down the road with 3/4 of a tank the gauge drops and gas light comes on. Bought sending units. Waiting on them to come in i tried no ethanol 93 for about a week. Come out one morning to go to work and bam, gas gauge works. Still using ethanol free till yesterday when my lovely wife decided she would put gas in it. No gauge with e10 blend. Just gonna drop the tank and fix it right but can someone please give me a explanation of why it works with e free gas. Thanks

I have had this happen a few times in the last couple of years, although it's been at least 9 months since the last time. In my case its when I'm sitting at a stop light. I don't see how fuel selection could impact the sending unit, and I have chosen not to do anything at this point. I think it's more of an electric gremlin, and as long as it doesn't happen often, or more importantly stop my LR3 from running I'll deal with it.

Dont think it is a gremlin. Plugged up the scanner and one sending unit is bottomed out. Filled up with e free today and one can of seafoam later gauge works. I know c5 vets have a problem with this also. I had a built evo tuned just for e85 and never had a problem with sending units. All i can find is some people are saying ethanol can effect the resistance of sensors.
