LR3 hot dash with heat on? This may help...
First thing I noticed with my LR3 was how warm the control console got. I often joked to passengers that the trim on each side were in fact radiators. They only got hot when the heat was on. Later when doing some work I noticed that even though the trim was installed right, it seemed the factory dark brown foam was not compressed from sitting again another surface. It looked new. So I installed some window sealing foam. This stuff compresses down a lot and contours well to provide excellent sealing. So around the inside vent ports I applied some. 100% took car of my hot dash issues.
In the first pic is the fresh install. In the second, take a week later, you can see where the factory foam pressed. There really was not too deep of an impression so there clearly was a gap of maybe 2mm - maybe less so on the top. Certainly enough that heat was dumping into the head unit and NAV display, etc.
