Need some advice on tire sizes?
Hello everyone
I have been searching high and low for some information on an appropriate tire size. I own a 2005 LR3 HSE - It has the original Good Year Tires which Ineed to replace.I've been reading alot about the uneven wearing, bumpy ride and pullingand I agree...They are horrible. I was just wondering if there is another 19" tire that rides more smoothy? I don't go off roading, and I really don't do much driving other than around town, back and forth to my kids schooland to local ski resorts in the winter. I came across a pair of brand new 255/60/R19'sat a great price. What is the differencebetween the 60 than the 55?
If there's someone who could give me some tips I would appreciate it!
Thank you!

RE: Need some advice on tire sizes?
The selection for good tiresfor a19" wheel are somewhat scarse, which is in part why many LR3 owners have switched to 18".Now to your questions, the first number on the tire (255) refers to the width of the tire, meaning that both tires in your question are exactly the same width. The second number is the height of the tire. In your case, a 255/60 is an entire inch taller than the 255/55 making it a 31" tire. Most LR3 owners will agree that the largest size that can be fitted to an LR3 that is totally free of rubbin is a 31.5" tire so with an extra 1/2 inch of wiggle room, you should find that the extra inch of tire (1/2 inch of side wall and clearance) even for someone who has no intentions of off roading, still translates into a more comfortable ride which is always welcome in my book! Bottom line, short of switching your wheels for 18" wheels all around, go ahead with the 255/60/19. They will fit fine and give you a more comfortable ride than factory size.
