Default Rear Diff Question

Does anyone know if the locking rear diff option is actually any stronger than the open diff? Obviously it's quite different but in the one photo I could see showing the internals of both diffs the spider gears for the open diff actually looked bigger than it's locked counterpart.

Reason I'm asking is I plan on towing an RV with an LR3 (Once I find what I want) and am trying to determine if the HD Option with locker has any value other than it's offroad prowess for which it may not be necessary as the factory TC is pretty awesome.

I realize I don't need lockers for towing, maybe I asked the question wrong. From an engineering standpoint, is there anything inside the lockable rear diff that would indicate it is stronger (when open) than its non-locking brethren?

There are slightly different bearings on the open diff.

Generally the locker seems more heavy duty to me, it also holds more oil. Locking is a good way to go, should have no negative effect on highway or towing.

That sounds logical enough. The extra fluid would at the very least help keep things cooler back there.
