Haha thanks so much man! Yeah, it's kind of a big undertaking when I've got customer vehicles lined up out my door and am turning away work already.
But - somebody's got to do it, right? While I'm still in the planning stages, if you guys want to talk about what you would be looking for beyond turning off air susp. etc fault lights when running coils that would be a good place to start. The module could also just have a quick kill switch to disable the air suspension, kind of like pulling the fuses does when it's trying to drop you down to the ground in fault mode, and you need it to stay aired up to get home, that sort of thing.... |
Hmm, that might actually be possible, depending on what kind of chip they use internally to store the VIN info. Has anyone ever taken one of those modules apart or have any high res photos of the circuit board? Just speaking out of curiosity here of course.
CYA part of this post: I am of course only speaking here of what a person might *theoretically* be able to do, not that I personally would ever do anything that would in any way violate the original module seller's patents, intellectual property or terms of service. |
Thanks loanrangie, I love the EAS system too. IMHO it gves these the best capability and ride of anything out there. It would have to under special circumstances for me personally to want to disable it. Like if I bought one that had already been converted, for testing purposes, that sort of thing.
But I also totally get it when other folks in the community prefer to swap the EAS for something that doesn't need electronics to function. Whatever works to keep these classics on the road and the trail is good with me.

I love the EAS and will never convert to coils but for those that do an alternative module would be a blessing i think, good luck with it.

I'm hoping to revive this thread/topic since I installed a "used" Atlantic British kit and the orange box will not work for me. These trucks are 20 years old and seems like there should be another solution rather spending that much for a little box...
Any insight or updates on this would be greatly appreciated :) |
If you pry it open and find sum eproms you could use an EPROM eraser.
