Default Transmission Seals & Valve Cover Gaskets: Do I need an LR shop?

Hello once again party people!

Question is: is there any reason why a good transmission shop that works on imports with a good reputation, but whom is not an "indy LR shop" would be a bad idea for replacing transmission seals and valve cover gaskets? Is there anything actually special about that job on a 2008 LR3 HSE that would mean it would for sure need an LR guy?

fwiw I have always had my work done at my local indy shop (regardless of if it was generic oil change or Land Rover specific quirks) but I moved recently so there are more options combined with longer wait times at my indy shop for such a big job.

Cheers!

You don't mention the engine. Assuming the 4.4, the valve covers are pretty easy for anyone to do. There really is not much to em. Transmission valve body seals are only a concern because to the potentially brittle valve body harness but any transmission shop can serve a ZF transmission, there is not unique about em. So really it depends on the shop and what they are willing to do but neither project have any unique challenges.

Yes, correct 4.4 – thanks as always DakotaTravler for the insight!

This is what I was thinking with regards to the valve covers and transmission valve seals, particularly with everything else I know about this era/model but, always worth doing a quick gut check with the folks that know more than myself.

Appreciate the response!
