Wheel Offset?

I have the 18" 10 spoke wheels on my 06 LR3. From what I can gather they are 18' diameter, 8" width and the offset is 53mm.
I'm looking at 18" wheels to possibly buy. Looking at black wheels since mine is Java Black.
My confusion stems from looking at all the wheel web sites when you search for wheels to fit the LR3 they all have offsets of between 35mm - 45mm. I can't find any that approach the 53mm offset of the OEM wheels.
I've searched and can't really find a complete answer to my question which is:
Will a wheel with an offset of less than 53mm work or will I need to add spacers so that I don't run into any problems with the wheels rubbing on the brake calipers, etc.? Also LR's are nub centric correct? What is the hub diameter.
Appreciate any clarification that can be given.

Hahahahaha....I just wanted to take a shot at Louisville to acknowledge your screen name. I actually went to a game @ Papa John's Stadium; we got clobbered by that '05 team with Elvis Dumerville. Then a few years later we returned the favor in our our stadium. Since I got my revenge-game, I'm not bitter.
...and I had a GREAT time in your town. Really good fans/people and a fun atmosphere.

Yeah Elvis was something special. If you're ever back in town for a game at Papa Johns let me know. We tailgate before every game. The food is great and you would get to see my LR3, if you can stand the U of L plates on the front and rear.
I've been reading up on off set and it seems that I should try to stay as close to 5mm difference between OEM and after market, which would be 48mm. Very few wheels at that offset though I have found some around 40 - 45. One site said to avoid more positive offset at all costs, so something around 45 would probably work.

First off,
The general consensus for LR3 wheels is that the OEM load rating is 940kg, which equals 2,072lbs. Any wheel you are looking at purchasing will have all the specs listed (diameter, width, bolt pattern, offset, back spacing, bore, load rating, etc). Be sure that wheel is 2,100lbs or better and that will solve that "issue". The wheels I just purchased are stamped with a load rating of 2,500lbs.
Now to clear up offset. Land Rover wheels (as the majority of vehicles do) have a positive offset. Adding a spacer to move your wheel and tire combination OUT away from the suspension parts, reduces your offset number meaning:
If an OEM wheel is listed at 53mm and the aftermarket is listed at 35mm, then the inside edge of the rim (inside sidewall of the tire) is moved out away from the suspension parts by 18mm (0.709 inch).
Purchasing a 35-45mm offset wheel is NOT going to require spacers, but will actually eliminate the need for spacers. See photo.
Stock tire tread width is generally 255. I installed (ridiculously wide for an LR3 but fairly thin for most mud boggers) WIDE 285s. The inside of the tire rubbed on the suspension. This required a spacer on a stock rim. Now I have purchased the new rims with a "lower" offset number, therefore eliminating the need for a spacer. Have I tried to test fit everything? NO. But I will be doing just that shortly. Another thing to bear in mind is that changing any of the stock OEM measurements will lead to a particular set of challenges. I will write up post going over my situations and ask to have it pinned by a moderator so that tire questions will be near the top of the discussion board.
As for your black wheels on a Java Black 3. Happy hunting.
