Any model with the 5.0 can have the noise I'm referring to. It presents any where from a tick to a low level knock at idle, but goes away when RPM's are increased. Once you know what it sounds like you can hear it on almost all of them.

JaguarDoc... thanks for the details. My XFR has this and an indi said it was normal. I was still stressed, but after reading this and getting under the car , it definitely sounds like them.

I Just bought a 2011 LR4, not new to Rovers or Brits but new to the 5.0. I have this noise and spent all weekend researching this. Just to revist, this "knock" is normal? Timing Chain guides/tensioners have been done along with water pump and thermostat.

The "knock" you hear at idle is the fuel pump cam follower.
The 5.0L engine uses mechanical fuel pumps, and the cam follower can be very noisy.
It sits lower in the engine so it sound like something in the bottom end, but usually it's not.

Is there a fix regarding this “fuel pump cam follower”?? I mean can they be replaced? Depending on how in depth of a job that is will be why JLR says it’s “normal” or not lol

anyone? anyone ?

This makes sense, I added sea foam to the tank and the knock all but disappeared.

I’ve used BG44k and no such luck decreasing my idle knock

Did the knock stop after the seafoam or any other solution to stop it?

Hi all, I wanted to also note that I’ve got the same knock. I think?! Video does capture the sound. Would you guys mind letting me know that it’s what you experience too? Thanks
