In my 2012 LR4 theres a vertical hole (that could hold a pack of cards or cigarettes for instance) immediately to the right of the terrain driving mode dial in the center console. Doe anyone have an idea whether or not this hole was put there by land rover for some specific purpose?

 

No idea. Phone I guess. Perhaps to hold the fob?

 

I definitely think is was put there with Americans in mind.
