LR 4 255-55 R20 tires
Looking at Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza tires. Tire rack prices 4 255-50s delivered for $902.68. 4 255-55 are $803.68. I don't know why the smaller tire is 25 bucks more but will they fit with no problems. Service writer at dealer says ok, tire rack rep. says they will rub. Anyone have some knowledge on this.

I'm confused. 255-55 R19 is the correct size. Those are the ones you should get
The 255-50R19 is a smaller tire. So it can't possibly rub. But it's a half inch less sidewall so total wheel and tire diameter is an inch smaller. So your speedo and mileage will misread. By about 3% I believe |
My LR 4 came stock with 255-50 R20 tires. I have decided to go with the Michelin Defenders in that size.

Most LR4s came with 19inch so I assumed that was the OPs setup. If he has the 20inch then the 50-sidewall is the right one and the 55 will be too big. Maybe that's what he meant - it would explain the rubbing comment. For the OP - can you provide your wheel size? |
My LR is a 2016 Landmark. I guess thats why I have 20" wheels.

So if you have the 20inch wheels I follow the point on rubbing now. I would suggest keeping with the 50 as they will have the same total diameter as intended and therefore avoid instrument misreading I'd be pretty sure the 55s will fit in the wheel arches - there is a lot of clearance. But the speedo / odometer would misread a bit. |
LR4 Tire Sizes
You can easily fit the 255-55-20 which is 31 inches with no lift.

I went with the Michelin A/T in 255-50-20 and am happy with the ride so far. Very little road noise and good in the dusting of snow we have had.
