Nearing the end of 2024, now what are the factory or other options for 18 inch Wheels for LR4? I found the johnson rods classified thread , but wondering now days can these work too?
2017-2024 Defender 18" Steel LR143917
2017-2024 Defender 18" 5 Spoke
LR3 - 18" all of the above
TerraFirma 18"
BMW VW or Tesla 18" (think most are not spec'ed to handle the weight)
Wheel adapters from 5x120 -> 5x5" (5x127) to open up a million Jeep Wrangler options
Range Rover Sport 18"
What else?
I don't think all of the above will require brake caliper grinding, but imagine some would.

I keep thinking about this idea. I have been looking since I bought the rescue Rover and 18" rover wheels are like rcocking horse poop, but 18" Wrangler rims are everywhere and can be had for $100 a set, and they look fine.
I’ve got my wheels lined up (Nomad Sahara, 18x8 et44) and I’ve decided on KO2s for my tire of choice but I’m torn between 265/60 and 265/65 for my overall size.
I’m aware that potentially the 265/65 may have some rubbing but overall should work ok.
But here’s where I’m stuck, the 265/60 will fit without issue, will fit the spare underneath and won’t require any additional lift. From what I’ve read so far it seems like that will also be the case with the 65 profile but is that tire “better” with a lift? I do have a GAP tool and could dial that in, but my desire is to not modify the suspension if possible to preserve as much of the articulation as possible.
so would I regret going a little larger with the 65 profile?
And I think another comment for consideration is: Are you going for performance or looks?
Its all well and fine until you are off road somewhere and have a air suspension fault, find your vehicle resting on the tires as they are too large to allow the car to sit on the bump stops. How do you limp out of that situation without being a burden to anyone else?? (Sorry, as a real sailor, telemark skier, hiker... its all about self sufficiency)
Moreover, I think the LR4 engineers nailed it…. Off road when you want, go to the opera when you want. That drive is excellent with the non LT tires and the air suspension.
Thats not to say I didn’t oversize, but it is so marginal with 255/55R19s. No rubbing. Never got stuck (the right tires for the job) and that includes pulling a tractor out of a bog…. While in the bog myself. Or climbing wet smooth and loose granite on the Canadian Shield. And no rubbing (I hate that noise).
I see some with crazy spacers… drastically affecting the scrub angle and trying to convince themselves of better performance…. I drive in all weather and road conditions, and (touch wood) the handling of the vehicle is perfect.
Like I said, you asked for it ;-). But I thought you should have at least 1 argument in the other direction.
Absolutely sound logic, and I agree being self-sufficient is important. This is precisely why I want to avoid anything that would require modifications or prohibit the vehicle from moving under its own power should the EAS fail and I'm dropped to the bump stops. Just looking for the right balance of looks AND performance
Perfect.
My Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, 255/55R19 work both on road and offroad. But I use studded X-Ice for the winter(we get it all in the winter and there’s more ice now than ever before).
Your tire choices are excellent too… if I were in your neighbourhood I might lean that way. New rubber on Monday?

i ran those tires in a larger size on 18" wheels on my D2s for years. they are great tires. i may have to get those for the LR4.
