Question A Tale of Two LR4's

Hi all, it's been a pleasure learning more about the unique world of LR4 ownership from the forums. I am lucky enough to have tracked down two 2013 HSE's local to me that are now being sold and thought it would be interesting to hear some thoughts before I pull the trigger. Thought it'd be interesting to see what folks think:

1.) Option 1
  • 2013 LR4 V8, HSE
  • Being sold by original owner
  • Done 46K
  • Serviced at dealer yearly
  • No signs of major replacements (timing chain, water pump etc)
  • Black exterior/interior (live in a place that is regularly 104-120 degrees half the year so a black car can make it feel even hotter if that's somehow possible)
  • Listed at $20K, owner willing to sell for $18K

1.) Option 2
  • 2013 LR4 V8, HSE
  • Currently owned by used dealer, sold to them by original owner
  • Done 55K
  • Original owner serviced at dealer every 6 months
  • No signs of major replacements (timing chain, water pump etc)
  • Metallic Light blue exterior, cream interior
  • Listed at $24K, Dealership willing to sell for $19K

What choice would you make faced with the same two options? Appreciate any and all feedback

Both are really low mileage - I’m not sure 6 mos vs 1 year maint makes much difference at those miles, assuming they were changing oil at least once a year. All other things being equal (no accidents, no rust, no paint damage, etc.), the lower mileage would be nice, but it really would depend more on the general condition of the car when I went to see it and then how important the interior/exterior color is to you personally. At this age of vehicle, I wouldn’t be sweating a 10K mileage difference personally.

FWIW I have been looking at 2013-2016 LR4s for several months and those are excellent prices, especially considering the mileage is so low. Frankly I am shocked a dealer would take 25% off the sticker price in these times when most dealers are desperate for inventory and the 2013s command a meaningful premium over prior years given the timing chain issue was corrected for 2013+ (allegedly). To me a 9k difference in mileage on an 8 year old truck is meaningless since you are talking about ~100 more miles per month over that time. I personally think the blue/cream is a great combo. I'd be interested in purchasing whichever one of these you don't buy.

Thank you so much for your feedback, and sorry CU_Roving but the seller of the black LR4 informed he sold it a while ago.
