I've decided to put up my 2003 Discovery S for sale. It's a gorgeous truck with an extensive service history.

It's an 03 facelift S, Java black on Alpaca interior. It has 113,500 miles, and is an S7 package with 3rd row seats, but no sunroofs to leak!

The truck drives beautifully, no shakes/vibrations/weird noises. Cruise control works, and for that matter everything in the interior and exterior work. Engine starts right up, transmission shifts incredibly smooth, and the drivetrain is quiet. It's riding on brand new Cooper Discoverer ATs, a nice all terrain tire that's great in the snow. The paint looks great, although it does have a few
age related little dings and a couple of scratches. Cowel is not cracked! The wheels are in great shape, however the front left has a bit of curb rash. Headlights and tail lights were polished and ceramic coated, for best luck at warding off the fade again. Interior is in fairly nice shape, the driver seat has a crack on the bottom however the rest of the interior is in great shape, including the addition of a black headliner.

As far as the frame goes, it's very very solid. You can still see the original VIN number stamped on the passenger side of the rear frame. Entire thing has been recoated in frame primer and gloss POR15.


Now, here's where it gets good. You know all those troubles with the 4.6 Land Rover engines? Yeah..good thing this got a new Studded motor a few thousand miles ago!

The motor started off as a GEMs block that I purchased from a forum member a few years back. Since then, it's been:
Line honed
Block pressure tested
Cylinders Honed
New cam bearings (updated style with grooves)
New genuine Rover camshaft
New rocker arm shafts
New rod bearings
NOS GEMs crankshaft
New piston rings
New lifters
All seals
ARP head studs
Heads resurfaced
Valves lapped
Valve stem seals replaced
Bosch CPS mount welded
New head gaskets
New freeze plugs
New timing chain
New timing sprockets
New crank position sensor.
New spark plugs (copper)
Well, there you go. A new motor, the original suffered a very warm death by..overheating. I can include the original engine if you'd like Haha

While we were "in there"..I took the intakes and valve covers and completely cleaned them of carbon, then painted the block, auxiliary brackets, intakes, and valve covers Buick sea green..being these motors were derived from the Buick 215.

A/C o-rings replaced
A/C recharged
Spark plugs
Newer wires
Vacuum lines replaced
Cruise control vacuum lines
Newer coil packs
Transmission serviced, fluid and filter
Front and rear differentials serviced
Transfer case serviced
New power steering pump
Power steering flush with Mercon SP

Everything in the cooling system, except the radiator which was flushed/checked for leaks by a local radiator shop
Every cooling hose, top to bottom, including reservoir, and cap
180F thermostat
Brake fluid flush
Injectors rebuilt

Throttle body resealed
Added auxiliary engine and body grounds
New air filter
New catalytic converters
New o2 sensors
New battery
Exhaust manifold gaskets
Oil changed at 50 miles, as per recommendation of the machine shop for break in procedure. Valvoline VR1 with flat tappet additive used, as well as a Mahle filter.
Coolant flush BMW Blue 50/50
Frame has been fully undercoated with primer/non rubberized undercoat. You can see the VIN stamp on the frame!
Set of 4 265/70r16 Cooper Discoverer ATs
New shift and parking brake boots
Headliner done in bedliner
That's probably not everything, but what I can think of


Well, and of course it is a 18 year old vehicle, so there's a few negatives:
Dent in front driver side door
Dent near the tail light
Tear in passenger front seat
Gets like 16MPG
People pesker you about it at fuel stops (okay, maybe this isn't a bad thing)
I've gotten a Jeep wave. Twice.
Automatic car wash is powerful enough to blow a bit of water through the back door. Rain doesn't have this effect.
Doesn't leak oil whilst being a Land Rover
Fender flares a tad faded


I've personally used Costco/BP premium in this truck, however you can get away with 87/89 with no problem. If non ethanol fuel is available I will use that. BG44k run through quarterly.
