2003 Discovery 2 SE
For Sale2003 Land Rover Discovery
Description:
I am selling my 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2. It has 190k miles. It has been a great vehicle, but it’s time to move on. It has been a staple old reliable vehicle in our family. When all other cars have broken down, she has been the one to stand up and be there for us. I built her with the intentions of taking it cross country from New Zealand to Alaska, but having kids has made that trip less likely in this vehicle. So I am selling it. I probably won’t be able to fit all the good things I can say about this vehicle and what I’ve done
with it, but I will try:
4.6L V8 engine. Rebuilt at 170k miles with many new parts and modifications.
ENGINE
o Ultima yellow top battery.
o Cooling system completely overhauled to prevent overheating.
185 degree thermostat (10 degrees cooler than OEM).
New aluminum cooling components installed at all hose junctions.
New cooling hoses.
Temperature sensor installed in line at the hottest point of the coolant.
Sensor is on the Driver’s side A-pillar and much more accurate than the on dash sensor.
All aluminum radiator.
New cooling fan.
New water pump.
Custom switch installed in center console to activate cooling fans
manually should temperatures need it.
o Engine was meticulously cleaned in every pathway and every bolt before reassembly during rebuild.
o New timing chain.
o Cylinder heads were rebuilt.
New valves, valve seals, and push rods.
Resurfaced at a metal shop.
ARP head studs installed for better torque being applied to the block.

o New fuel injectors.
o New spark plugs/wires/coils.
o New O2 sensors all around (OEM only. This engine DOES NOT like cheap parts. I have not skimped out).
o Refilled AC refrigerant just this 2022 summer.
o NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS! NO 3 AMIGOS! NO XYZ SWITCH ISSUES!
o Always driven with Premium gas.
Other modifications made to the vehicle

o Snorkel system has been installed, but needs final seal at the fender to be water tight.
Preventative Maintenance
o Oil changed with new filter in the last month
I use Valvoline VR1 20w-50. The valves love this in this engine.
o Coolant flushed and replaced when new cooling items were installed in the last 20k miles.
o Differential fluids (front and rear), transfer case fluids, and transmission fluids all changed out in the last 20k miles. New filter installed in the transmission.
o PCV valve replaced with a more sturdy metal version. Didn’t need to, no issues, but I wanted a more reliable system.
o LED Headlight bulbs installed into the HID headlamps.
I have gone ON & ON and I still keep finding things that I’ve done and how much work I have put into this vehicle. I don’t want to keep typing. I will not hesitate to say I love this car. I have
had 2 of them, and I hate to part with her. But I am ready to move on to my next project and I want her to find a loving home to go to next. I am ready to answer any questions you want, tell you any stories of trips I’ve taken her on. Please reach out.
