Hey what kind of headlight upgrade do you have on your disco? I want to do something like that

My 03 disco has the same noise as in your video. I took a chance and listened from under the engine and it is twice as load. I'm interested to know what else you find.

Well I just got my AC serviced and had the mechanic give it a listen. He thinks it could be a lifter or low oil pressure. My next step is to check the oil pressure and then also replace the thermostat with a new 180 and a new fan clutch to give anymore credence to the slipped liner theory.

I have had several people tell me that one issue associated with that infamous tick is the oil pump gear cracking into a couple of pieces which results in a loss of oil pressure to the top end, lots of heat and friction then your top end parts become starved of oil and get hung up. Mine has a tick and I have been told to change to a different cover and obviously, replace the gear if it's broken and do all new bearings on the crankshaft. I know the previous owner of my truck was using regular gasoline and not supreme so I was thinking I have carbon and other deposits that have built up and got a lifter stuck. I'm on the fence but what are you going to do with your truck next?
