    Hello,

I figured out the selector gear problem, I pulled the steering gear out and disassembled it. The selector shaft was on the wrong set of teeth, it was almost impossible to get it on the right set....
    Thanks,

    Joel

Are you still on this site?
I had a question about the selector shaft. I rebuilt my steering gear and got it back together. the wheels turn fine one direction and bottom out the other way just after the straight position. Just wondering if I could possibly put the selector shaft on the wrong set of teeth? I assumed that it could only go back together one way....It wouldn’t be a big deal it the drop arm went on as a spine gear but it has only one way it attaches. Dumb question but, I probably have to remove the steering gear again.....
    Any help appreciated!!

Yes, its only leaking at the shaft seal, well more like gushing now from the seal. I'll follow your info from your post. Thank you.

Hi LRD2&ME, I've been reading your post regarding a steering box rebuild and was looking for some advice. I have a 98 D1 150k miles that I've been using Lucas Power Steering Fluid to seal the little leaks from the box for a couple of years now, but now I have to change shaft seals and was wondering if this can be done without removing the power steering box from the vehicle (I was able to remove the steering tie arm). Also do you have any tip/tricks for installation of the new seals?
Thank you for your time, Stephen

LRD2&ME, can you post the link for your ebay site for the snap -in roller, this seems like a fairly common issue on the DISCO2. When you say "snap-in" does this mean that I should not need to pull the motor and regulator in order to install? do you have any images / install guide for "snapping" these rollers in. Thanks from the wilds of Canada, David. You can email me at david.mitten@northernhealth.ca

Yeah it really doesn't bother me. It is just irritateing to have these people do a one thread attack out of the blue, when you are trying to take care of your Rover.

Where exactly is it located? Can you snap a general picture of it's installed location and another of the part itself? Do this and Ill get it off tomorrow if possible.
