Hey 5280,
I was searching posts for oil pump replacement 4.0 Cologne and ran across an old post of yours that was super informative.
I was hoping for some advice.
The engine has 180K on the clock.
Just started to get some top end tap, warm or cold. Oil light came on and parked it. Oil level was fine.
My dad used to dump a 50/50 mix of kerosene and oil into old engines to remove varnish and gunk from the valve train, and free up lifters before he tore into them. I'm not planning to do that...yet!
Am I right to assume that it's the oil pump? Is there anything specific to Land Rover that I should know? The pump seems very straight forward, but I've learned not to assume anything with this rig. Seems like you drop the oil pan and the pump is right there?
I'd rather not go into this totally blind.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated, and if you live anywhere in the PNW, worthy of a beer or three.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Scott
