Default Disco Exhaust

I bought my '01 Disco II a couple weeks ago and have been coming across some pretty great modifications.
I want to lift it a couple ofinches, read the post about calling Tony - will do.

What about exhausts? I am looking for something to let it breath a little better, give it a deeper resonance. I have found the Borla cat back. Is this all there is out there for aftermarket? Anybody have anaftermarket exhaust? Custom? Recommendations?

The exhaust is alot of money for a small return, unless you are planning on head and cam mods I wouldn't suggest it.
Try cutting the resonator of the rear of the truck, makes it a little more mellow.
How many miles on the tuck, what are you planning to do with it?

There's 56k miles on it right now. It's a daily driver but I am into a lot of outdoor activities on weekends - camping, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing. . . I like getting back away from everyone else in the mountains, so I plan on using it for that as well. About 20% off-road useage.

just go to an exhaust shop and have them fab you an exhaust. it set me back $200 for everything installed compared to $800 for a borla. i didnt notice an increase in gas mileage or power, but i do like how it sounds!

Having one fab'd sounds like the best way to go. What did you have done? Cat-back? 3"? Muffler?

Here again, even if you get a cheap job done, you won't get any benefit from it unless you just want the change in sound.
If you are looking for an increase in performance, this isn't the way to go.

Just get a flowmaster exhaust, not the kit just the muffler. They have many different ones at http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/mufflers.html and click one and listen to the sound clip. i am getting a 40 series for mine and it sounds great. A muffler shop can cut your old one off and put a new one on cheap. i got mine put on for 20$ and the muffler cost 80$

It doesn't really sound like anything is going to be a decent value if looking for any kind of increase in performance. At least it can SOUND like it performs better though, eh? Some decent ideas here, thanks!

like i said before, i didnt see any noticable performance increases. i had a hole in my muffler so i took the opportunity to replace the exhaust. i had a magnaflow muffler put in with 2.5" piping. heres how it sounds http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...t=MOV04153.flv

That sounds SWEET! I'll probably be going with something similar. Looks like anice affordable route to a great sounding exhaust!
