Default Does anyone have any recommendations for headers ?

Does anyone have any recommendations for exhaust headers for a 2004 Disco II ? Mine are rusted out and are in real bad shape. I would like to replace then with some good quality performance headers. tried to find some but havent been able to.

Are you talking real headers, or exhaust manifolds?

Are they really rusted out? Or just rusty. I've never seen cast iron manifolds rust out.

Yeah, headers and and exhaust manifolds are 2 different things. Your truck came from the factory with cast iron exhaust manifolds that like antichrist said usually do not rust through. Headers are performance upgrades that are tubular in design and help the engine breathe better thus improving performance. I haven't found headers for these yet either and would probably be interested if a QUALITY set were available although I wonder if the actual performance gains would be worth the investment. Also, if your truck has secondary air injection headers may be a problem but I am unsure.

I don't see any openings so the idea of rusted out is out but they are really really rusted badly.

They will be fine, they are quite thick and prone to getting a thin film of rust on them.

Yeah, don't worry about them. The exhaust manifoldson my series rovers have been rusty since I got them. Considering my IIa 88's rusty manifold is 47 years old and still works fine, I don't think you need to worry.

They will turn a rust color almost as soon as you drive off the dealers lot. Trust us, they are fine. If you have any doubt take a small hammer and lightly tap them in a few spot and you will hear how solid they are.
